General Admissions Requirements

Associate of Science in Business Administration (ASBA)

  • High School Graduate
  • Official transcripts
  • Applicants who have attended an accredited institution whose primary language of instruction is not English must receive a minimum score of 500 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), or 61 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), or a 6.0 on the International English Language Test (IELTS), or a 44 on the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) Score Report, or a 85 on the Duolingo English Test.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA)

  • High School Graduate
  • Official transcripts
  • Applicants who have attended an accredited institution whose primary language of instruction is not English must receive a minimum score of 500 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), or 61 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), or a 6.0 on the International English Language Test (IELTS), or a 44 on the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) Score Report, or a 85 on the Duolingo English Test.

Master of Science in Business Administration (MBA)

  • Bachelor Degree with overall GPA of 2.0 or better. California Miramar University accepts a 3 year Bachelor Degree.
  • Official transcripts evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) http://www.naces.org/members.html.
  • Applicants who have attended an accredited institution whose primary language of instruction is not English must receive a minimum score of 530 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), or 71 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), or a 6 on the International English Language Test (IELTS), or 50 on the PTE Academic Score Report, or a 95 on the Duolingo English Test.

Master of Science in Computer Information Systems (MSCIS)

  • Bachelor Degree with overall GPA of 2.0 or better. California Miramar University accepts a 3 year Bachelor Degree.
  • Official transcripts evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) http://www.naces.org/members.html.
  • Applicants who have attended an accredited institution whose primary language of instruction is not English must receive a minimum score of 530 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), or 71 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), or a 6 on the International English Language Test (IELTS), or 50 on the PTE Academic Score Report, or a 95 on the Duolingo English Test.

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)

  • Master Degree with overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Official transcripts evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) http://www.naces.org/members.html.
  • Applicants who have attended an accredited institution whose primary language of instruction is not English must receive a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), or 80 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), or 6.5 on the International English Language Test (IELTS), or 58 on the PTE Academic Score Report, or a 105 on the Duolingo English Test.
  • Minimum of 30 hours of graduate coursework in a business related field.
  • Three years of combined teaching/professional work experience.
  • Three letters of recommendation

DBA students will also need:

Academic Credentials From Foreign Colleges and Universities

Students who wish to transfer credits from foreign institutions based outside the United States or Canada must first have those credits evaluated by an organization or agency accepted by California Miramar University. CMU recognizes all members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (“NACES”). A list of the members of NACES can be found at www.naces.org.

International students are required to obtain an F-1 visa to attend California Miramar University (CMU) and study in the USA. Once you have been admitted to CMU, you will be issued an I-20 or Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) by CMU’s International Admissions Office.

International Admissions FAQ

Can I study fully online?

If studying outside the U.S., all programs can be taken completely online. International students with a visa are only allowed one online class per semester per government rules.

Am I eligible to transfer credits from my home country degree?

Yes, if the credits are for the same degree level you will be studying at CMU. See our catalog for the maximum number of credits allowed per degree level.

Do I need to send my original transcript?

Students will need to provide original transcripts during the admission process or within 30 days of enrollment.

Do my transcripts need to be evaluated?

All foreign degree transcripts with the exception of high school, will need to be evaluated.

What are the enrollment periods?

There are six start dates per year and admissions are on a rolling basis.

Can I apply for any of the campuses?

California Miramar University offers different programs at each campus. San Diego accepts both undergraduate and graduate students. Our La Puente location accepts undergraduate students only.

Is there financial aid for international students?

Currently, there is not any financial aid for international students; however, California Miramar University offers affordable tuition and does not charge international students a higher rate of tuition than our domestic students.

Is there on campus housing?

California Miramar University does not offer on-campus housing for students. We have local resources here to help, for assistance and further details on housing options, please visit our Housing (link) page.

Do I need health insurance?

While health insurance is not a mandatory requirement for international students at California Miramar University, we highly recommend obtaining comprehensive health coverage for the duration of your studies.

Can I work as an international student?

Yes, international students have the opportunity to engage in legal employment through Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) programs. It is important to note that there are specific requirements and regulations governing CPT and OPT. California Miramar University can help.
