Fighting Falcons Lose to Westminster

Montebello, California- November 15, 2016– The California Miramar University Fighting Falcons lost to the Westminster Griffins 61-102. The Falcons are now 0-4 for the season.

The Falcons got off to a slow start with the score being 2-14 in the first 4 minutes and they struggled going into half time with the score being 27-57. In the second half the Falcons came alive, scoring 34 points and holding Westminster to 45 points.

The Falcons never lead and was bested by Westminster in all stats. This was not a surprise to Coach Chris Shade who knew they would be a formidable opponent. “I made a lot of changes in practice this week,” says Shade. “We went with bigger players and worked on our zone defense because Westminster is an aggressive team with some accurate 3 point shooters and they are not afraid to drive the ball inside and make big plays. Our plan was to contain them and use the clock.”

The Falcons had three players in double digits. Sondale Conner 14pts, Devin McDonough 11pts and Tory Stamps with 10pts. Christian Mora was the play maker of the night with 4 assist.

The game was part a three day tournament hosted by the Westminster. The Falcons will see action again tomorrow against Bristol at 5pm and Saturday against East Oregon at 4pm.
