Fighting Falcons Knocked Out of the Playoffs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Fighting Falcons knocked out of the play-offs

Montebello, California- February 16- California Miramar University men’s basketball team was eliminated in the first round of the play-offs by Portland Bible College (70-76).

The game was a nail-biter with the teams exchanging the lead and being as close as four points apart in the final 90 seconds. It could have gone either way, but Portland dug in at the end to hold off the Falcons.

The Falcons, led by Christian Mora with 24 points, played with a lot of heart, giving it their all until the buzzer. They were stronger on offense than they had been in past games, where they lost due to turnovers.  AJ Mathis was second in scoring with 12 points.  Point guard Derrick Davis had eight points and five rebounds, which showed his leadership on both ends of the court. And Center Steven Adams contributed on the defensive end with 10 rebounds.

Coach Shade was disappointed in not going to the second round but optimistic about the future. “These guys have come a long way from 15-0 when we started the season. They will be unstoppable next season.”

The Fighting Falcons are currently in their first season with hopes of building a program with local and international talent that will elevate the university to national prominence.
