The Admissions Process

Higher education can make a world of difference on the road to success. At California Miramar University, we understand your desire to succeed and we’re here to help. Whether this is your first experience with higher education, or you are a college graduate looking to further your degree, CMU is here to provide you with a flexible and applicable educational environment that will assist you in achieving your goals.

  Step 1: Application

Complete an application for admission. Send your application, $25 application fee, and copies of supporting documents to the university.If you have any questions or concerns, please contact one of our admissions representatives at (858) 653-3000 x120 or toll free (877) 570-5678 x120.


  Step 2: Supporting documents
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required for all degree programs.
  • When applying to any of our Undergraduate programs:
    CMU will require a copy of your high school diploma as well as copies of transcripts from any previous college level coursework during the admissions process. Once admitted, CMU requires official transcripts be sent directly from previous institutions within 90 days.

    When applying to any of our Graduate programs:
    CMU will not require proof of a high school diploma or equivalent, but will require copies of transcripts from all Undergraduate coursework, and any Graduate level coursework completed prior to the applying. Once admitted, CMU requires official transcripts be sent directly from previous institutions within 90 days.

  • Please note that we do not require standardized test scores for admittance to CMU
  • If you have job, family, or life experience that may be beneficial in the evaluation process, please include a resume, certificates, or other documents regarding your background or experience. If you are Military or veteran, please include your DD214 and list of military training or schooling. We admit students on an individual basis and take many factors into consideration.

English Language Requirement

Undergraduate Programs:
Applicants whose native language is not English and who have not earned a degree from an appropriately accredited institution where English is the principal language of instruction must receive a minimum score of 500 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), or 61 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), or a 6.0 on the International English Language Test (IELTS).

Graduate Programs:
Applicants whose native language is not English and who have not earned a degree from an appropriately accredited institution where English is the principal language of instruction must receive a minimum score of 530 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT) or 71 on the Internet Based Test (iBT) or 6.5 on the International English Language Test (IELTS).


Foreign Student Admission and Visa Services
Foreign students will be required to achieve a TOEFL score of 500 on paper based exam, and 61 on internet based exam; or an IELTS band score of 6 before they begin their degree program with the University, or take an equivalent English language review test to be admitted into one of our academic programs. For foreign students, CMU does not provide any immigration status sponsorship, or any type of student visa (I-20 for the I.N.S.). Students, who have obtained student visas while attending other American colleges or universities in the U.S., cannot maintain their student visa status based on enrollment at California Miramar University.
